Heritage Lottery Fund: Information sessions

Would you like to know more about the Heritage Lottery Fund? Do you have an idea for a project? Would you like further advice?

Falkirk Council's External Funding Unit in partnership with CVS Falkirk and District and the Heritage Lottery Fund have organised two awareness raising events aimed at community groups in the Council area who have little or no knowledge of the Heritage Lottery Fund and the projects it can support. The events will take the format of an initial information session and this will be followed up by a more in-depth session that will assist groups with their project ideas.

The sessions will be held in:

Bo'ness

  • Information session, Tuesday 28 October -
    10.30am to 12noon
  • Follow up session (developing applications), Thursday 27 November - 10.30am to 12noon

Bonnybridge

  • Information session, Tuesday 11 November -1.30pm to 3.00pm
  • Follow up session (developing applications), Tuesday 2 December - 1.30pm to 3.00pm

For more information and to book a place, please contact Helen Bottomley at HLF who has special responsibility for this area and can be reached on 0131 240 1586 or at hbottomley@hlf.org.uk|.

Eligible projects can include community-based projects where heritage is used as a tool to promote involvement, develop new skills and create a sense of ownership and pride. Maybe this could be a focus for a potential community development project, or ideas for a community event or celebration that involves a historic building or park?

The range of history projects that can be funded is broad. These can include projects which involve cultural and local traditions, spoken history, the social history of industries and transport systems, museums, galleries and archives, and countryside and historic parks.

A common set of priorities run through all of the grant programmes:

  • All projects must help people to learn about their own and other people's heritage
  • Projects must also do either or both of the following:
    • Conserve the UK's diverse heritage for present and future generations to experience and enjoy
    • Help more people, and a wider range of people, to take an active part in and make decisions about heritage.

You can find more information about all of HLF's grant programmes on their website at www.hlf.org.uk/scotland|, or by contacting Helen (as above).
