What is the consultation about?

A major project to replace Municipal Buildings in Falkirk is being progressed by the Council.

Falkirk Municipal Buildings opened in 1966. Over the years it has deteriorated significantly and independent reports have confirmed that it would now cost over £10m to make it fit for purpose.

Why are we consulting?

In October 2014, the Council agreed to progress the HQ Office project for the replacement of the Municipal Buildings/other leased offices on part of the existing site.

Work is progressing on a delivery plan, detailed designs and costs to be approved by Council later in the year prior to the construction contract being awarded

The Council is now carrying out a pre-application consultation on the proposal for the demolition of the Municipal Buildings Complex/Westbank Centre and erection of new headquarters facility for Falkirk Council, including upgrading the site access.

This is being done in accordance with the Planning etc (Scotland) Act 2006.
