The Building Standards Unit operates within the Environmental and Regulatory Service of Development Services.
The main purpose of Building Standards is to safeguard the health and safety of people in and around buildings, through the application and administration of Building Regulations.
The Regulations apply to the construction, extension, alteration, demolition or conversion of a building.
