Certain types of buildings, which fall into specified exempted classes, do not require building warrant approval.
Buildings falling into this category are listed in Schedule 1 of the Building Regulations (Scotland) 2004.

Schedule 3 of the Building Regulations (Scotland)2004 lists a description of exempt works, including replacement of certain fixtures, which do not require Building Warrant approval. However, those lists in Schedule 3 require to comply with the functional standards.
