Civic Licensing

Falkirk Council as a licensing authority, carries out the administration of licensing in relation to activities for which licences are required, including the licensing of taxis, private hire cars, their drivers along with a large amount of other activities as specified in the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982.

Licences and registration for the sale and storage of Explosives, Fireworks and Petroleum licences are dealt with by the Trading Standards Team|.

Animal Welfare premises| (Animal boarding establishments (kennels, catteries), Dog breeders, Horse riding establishments; Pet shops; Dangerous wild animals, are licensed by the Environmental Protection Unit.

Falkirk Council is the responsible authority for the issuing of General Safety Certificates for Football Stadiums and Regulated Stands within its area in terms of the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975 and all other enabling powers.

Certificates are issued annually having regard to the guidance set out in the Green Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds 5th Edition. At the present time two football stadiums fall within this requirement namely those of Falkirk F.C. (Falkirk Stadium) and Stenhousemuir F.C. (Ochilview Park). In addition there is one Regulated Stand (Grangemouth Stadium).
