Falkirk Council is responsible for the administration of a wide range of licences and permits issued under various pieces of legislation. Generally, these fall into the following categories:
Alcohol and Gambling Licences and Permits granted by Falkirk Council Licensing Board in terms of the Licensing (Scotland) Act 1976|, the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005| and the Gambling Act 2005|. These include personal and premises licences and are administered on a day to day basis by the licensing section.
Civic Government Licences and permits granted by Falkirk Council Civic Licensing Committee in terms of the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982|. These include Taxis, Late Hours Catering, Street Trading, Window Cleaning etc and Public Charitable Collections such as Door to Door Collections and Street Collections and are administered on a day to day basis by the licensing section.
Miscellaneous Licences, Registrations and Permits including:

Licences and Registrations for the sale and storage of Explosives, Fireworks and Petroleum and administered on a day to day basis by the Trading Standards Team

Animal welfare premises (including animal boarding establishments, such as kennels and catteries; dog breeders; horse riding establishments; pet shops; and dangerous wild animals) and administered on a day to day basis by the Environmental Protection Unit.
