The Trading Standards Section is part of Development Services' Consumer Protection Unit.
The primary role of Trading Standards is to enforce consumer legislation in order to maintain a safe and fair trading environment for consumers and traders in the Falkirk Council area. A list of legislation enforced by Trading Standards can be viewed on the Trading Standards website at www.tradingstandards.gov.uk|.
In addition, advice and assistance is given on related civil law to both consumers and traders. In some instances, we can arrange for independent tests and inspections to be carried out.
We serve as an information source for other agencies, such as the Office of Fair Trading and for this purpose, information is held about unfair trading practices.
Enforcement staff
Enforcement staff are based at Abbotsford House and can be contacted on 01324 504950. Personal callers are welcome between the hours of 9.00am and 5.00pm, Monday-Friday, however, it is advisable to make a prior appointment.
