The Building Design Unit provides architectural and quantity surveying professional and technical services to other Council Services and to external clients on a wide range of projects including new buildings, alterations, upgrading and restoration work.
We work in four teams related to the client or clients that they serve:

Community Design works with Community Services and provides guidance on sustainable design and construction technology and support for home energy conservation

Education Design works with Education Services on the school programme

Housing Design works with the Housing division of Housing & Social Work Services on the housing investment programme

Social and Commercial Design works with the Social Work division of Housing & Social Work Services and with public sector clients external to Falkirk Council
The Engineering Design Unit| provides structural and geotechnical (ground engineering) design and designs roads, bridges and street lighting.
The Construction Support Team|, part of the Roads and Development Unit, provide specialist advice and guidance to the other units of Development Services, particularly Building Design and to the other Services of Falkirk Council. This covers:

applying the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations

improving access to Council buildings by disabled persons

gas safety advice
-
support for home energy conservation
-
asbestos regulations
