Planning permission will probably not be required for the formation of the erection of walls, fences, gates or other means of enclosure, provided the conditions outlined below are met. Written confirmation should always be sought before carrying out work.
Walls, fences, gates or other means of enclosure:

must not be more than 1m in height within 20m of a road

must not be more than 2m in height elsewhere
Please note that a road includes a footpath over which the public has a right of access.
Trees and hedges are not included in this category.
