The Environmental Protection Unit operates within the Environmental and Regulatory Service of Development Services. The main objectives of the unit are to:

promote a healthy, safe environment for all members of the community;

enforce regulatory and licensing controls;

encourage environmental awareness within the community;

continually monitor air quality and regularly measure levels of radioactivity;

investigate complaints of noise and public health nuisance;
-
identify and remediate contaminated land;
-
co-ordinate Council emergency planning;
-
implement our Waste Strategy to reduce waste going to landfill and promote recycling and waste prevention.
