Public health

A wide range of complaints and enquiries can be dealt with under the heading of "public health", such as fly-tipping and refuse accumulations, sewerage problems, odours, dirty houses and abandoned vehicles|. Most complaints are resolved informally by contacting the parties concerned.

However, an Abatement Notice can be served under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 in cases of a more serious nature, or where attempts at resolving the matter informally have failed.

Flytipping, refuse and waste

Flytipping and illegal dumping takes place in various locations around the Falkirk area. As well as being unsightly, it can cause pollution of the environment and can be harmful to health. Flytipping is illegal and anyone caught will be prosecuted.

You can report flytipping to Dumb Dumpers|. Complaints concerning the dumping of commercial waste should be reported to the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA)|.

Householders wishing to dispose of waste can either take it to the civic amenity sites at Kinneil Kerse by Bo'ness and Roughmute by Bonnybridge. Alternatively, a special uplift can be requested online  |or by telephoning 01324 504411.

Further information about how Falkirk Council is dealing with and cleaning up fly-tipping and litter can be found on our Litterzone pages|.
