Licence summary
If you control non-domestic premises you must ensure that you notify Falkirk Council of any cooling tower or evaporative condenser (notifiable devices) on the premises.
Notification must be in writing (including by electronic means) on a form approved by the Health & Safety Executive.
You must notify Falkirk Council of any changes to the notification information within one month of the change, in writing.
If the device ceases to be a notifiable device you must notify Falkirk Council in writing as soon as possible.

Local Authorities make available to Health & Safety Executive| (HSE) information from notifications relating to equipment on premises for which HSE has enforcement responsibility.
The main purpose of this requirement is to assist inspectors in investigating outbreaks of legionnaires' disease (2 or more confirmed related cases) thought likely to have arisen from wet cooling towers of evaporative condensers.
The precautions required to minimise the risk of infection are given in the Approved Code of Practice (ACOP).
