Technology is introducing new ways for the public to interact with the Planning function across Scotland. Here in Falkirk through our ePlanning Project significant changes are underway which to allow you to submit, track, search for and comment on planning applications made to the Council.
Since April 2009 it has been possible to use this technology. This was when the Scottish Government launched ePlanning Scotland| - the new online planning application and appeals submission system. From that site it is possible to submit an application to any planning authority in Scotland or lodge an appeal with the Directorate for Planning and Environmental Appeals (DPEA). The system is user friendly and takes you through each step of the way. It prevents you from making any basic errors that can often cause planning applications to be rejected. Every application that is made is given a unique reference number that allows you to return to the application at your leisure.
Around the same time, Falkirk Council's Online Planning System| became available. This allows anyone to access and view planning application details and, by registering on the site, to comment on or track applications.

Lists of Extant Applications
This is a new requirement and is required to be published online. The Council complies with this requirement in its existing Online Planning System|. Internet access is available via computer terminals in local libraries, and in our Planning Reception area. The system also contains a map-based facility representing the Index to the List.
Statutory Register
The need to maintain a Register of determined and undetermined applications continues. Our Online Planning System| represents the Statutory Register and we have established the use of this facility in our Planning Reception area. In line with Government plans, we are gradually moving away from the practice of maintaining a paper-based Register system.
Should you wish further information or wish to comment on any aspects of the ePlanning project please do not hesitate to contact us at eplanning@falkirk.gov.uk| and a member of the project team will get back to you.
General Planning and Planning Application enquiries should be submitted to Development Management on dc@falkirk.gov.uk| as normal.
