We all depend on biodiversity, the variety of life, and we can all help to look after it. Whether at home, school or in the workplace just small changes can make a real difference.

 

Here are just a few things you could do:

 

At home:

• use energy wisely

• reuse and recycle as much as possible

• improve your garden for wildlife by following the "10 steps for garden biodiversity (PDF, 114KB)"

• cut out the use of chemicals and peat in your garden.

 

At school:

• undertake a school environmental project using the "Green school guidelines (PDF, 4MB)"

• do a "Greenspace survey (PDF, 120KB)" of your school grounds

• put up bird and bat boxes and bird feeders to encourage wildlife.

 

At work:

• save money and help wildlife by integrating biodiversity into your business with the help of the "Business and biodiversity guidelines (PDF, 114KB)"

• encourage your employer to leave an area of long grass in their grounds to provide food and shelter for wildlife.
