Falkirk Local Development Plan

Falkirk Council is preparing a new Local Development Plan for the area.

When adopted in 2014, it will replace the current Structure Plan and Local Plan with a single planning document which will guide development in the area for the period 2014-2034.

A Development Plan Scheme (DPS) (PDF, 420KB)| has been prepared which sets out the expected timetable for preparation of the plan.

As the first key stage in the preparation of the Local Development Plan, the Council has published a Main Issues Report (PDF, 5.3MB)|. This identifies the main planning issues facing the area, the Council’s preferred approach to these issues and its preferred sites for future development.

Public consultation on the Main Issues Report took place from Friday 18 November 2011 to 10 February 2012.

What Happens Next?

The Council will consider all the comments received on the Main Issues Report before producing the Proposed Plan, at which point the Council fixes its view on development policies and proposals. There will an opportunity to object to the Proposed Plan and an Examination into unresolved objections, prior to the final adoption of the Local Development Plan.
