The Denny and District Local Plan covers the settlements of Denny, Dunipace, Head of Muir, Stoneywood and Fankerton, and the immediate rural hinterland, an area of 40.5 square kilometers with a population of 13,200.
Adopted in June 1996, its strategy is one of ‘revitalisation’ with emphasis on continuing the process of physical and economic regeneration instigated by the Denny/Bonnybridge project in the 1980s. Important components include:
-
the allocation of a major site for residential expansion on the east side of the town at Mydub Farm
-
the promotion of brownfield opportunities for development within the urban area
-
a new site for a business and industry park as an extension to Winchester Avenue Industrial Estate
-
revitalisation of the town centre
-
promotion of countryside recreation in the town’s rural hinterland.
A monitoring report produced in December 2001 contains a review of progress on the implementation of the plan.
