The Falkirk Council Local Plan (Finalised Draft – Deposit Version) was placed on deposit for objections for a six week period from 20 April 2007. The objection period has now closed and copies of all objections and other comments can be inspected at the Planning & Environment Unit, Abbotsford House, Davids Loan, Falkirk.
The Council has now considered all representations submitted and its responses were approved on 30th April 2008. The Council has also approved a set of Proposed Pre-Inquiry Modifications comprising changes to the Local Plan which it is prepared to make in an attempt to resolve objections, and these were advertised for further objections from May to July 2008. Objectors have now been given the opportunity to withdraw or maintain their objections in the light of the Council's modifications.
As at 30th September 2008, there were 597 outstanding objections of which 324 are to be considered by oral evidence (either a hearing or a formal inquiry session) at the Local Plan Inquiry. The remainder will be considered by means of written submissions.
The Council is in the process of appointing a Scottish Government Reporter to conduct the Local Plan inquiry which is expected to commence in March 2009 and last for approximately 4 months. A pre-inquiry meeting is expected to be held in December 2008 to which objectors will be invited and where arrangements for the inquiry will be discussed.
Final adoption of the Plan is likely to take place in 2010.
The Local Plan can be downloaded from the Falkirk Council Local Plan download page|. Hard copies are available for inspection at Abbotsford House, in libraries and one stop shops, or for purchase from Development Services, price £33.75 (£42.00 including post and packing if plan is to be sent out).
