The Larbert and Stenhousemuir Local Plan covers the settlements of Larbert, Stenhousemuir, Carron and Carronshore, and the immediate rural hinterland, an area of 22.6 square km with a population of 21,200.
Adopted in August 1998, it is based on a strategy of controlled growth and enhancement. Important components include:
-
the allocation of greenfield land for residential development at the Inches
-
the promotion of high profile inward investment business sites at Glenbervie and RSNH (East)
-
acknowledgement of future growth opportunities at the Bellsdyke and RSNH (West) hospital sites arising from Care in the Community policies
-
promotion of improved retailing facilities in Stenhousemuir Shopping Centre
-
identification of opportunities to improve the provision of open space and play areas.
A monitoring report produced in December 2001 contains a review of progress on the implementation of the plan.
Alterations to the Local Plan
An Alteration to amend the housing chapter of the Local Plan was adopted in March 2004. The purpose of the Alteration was to keep the Local Plan up to date, by implementing the policies of the Falkirk Structure Plan, which was approved in June 2002.
