Local Plans set out detailed policies and proposals to guide development. Falkirk Council must consult widely on the content of a Local Plan. After considering all views and objections and making suitable changes, Falkirk Council will adopt a Local Plan as the basis for its decision making on detailed planning matters in an area.
The current LocaL Plan covering the area is the Falkirk Council Local Plan, which was adopted by the Council on 8th December 2010.
Under the Planning (Scotland) etc Act 2006, the system of development plans in Scotland is changing. In the future, within Falkirk Council, we will be preparing a single local development plan, in place of Structure and Local Plans. A Development Plan Scheme setting out the expected process and timescale for the new local development plan was approved by the Council in May 2010.
