Falkirk Council recognises the important contribution that open spaces makes to the social and environmental wellbeing of the community. Our open spaces are also important in attracting people and investors to the area.
The Council in partnership with the Central Scotland Forest Trust, NHS Forth Valley and Scottish Natural Heritage has produced an Open Space Strategy for 2010-2015. The Open Space Strategy identifies a strategy for the long-term improvement and management of our open spaces and parks. The Strategy was formulated through analysis of the quantitative audit of open space and the qualitative assessment of a representative range of open spaces within our towns and villages which were completed recently.
Officers presented a summary of representations received during the consultation exercise which ran from 01 September 2009 – 30 November 2009 together with proposed modifications to the Strategy for consideration by the Council in early 2010. The Open Space Strategy was approved with a set of modifications| at a meeting of Falkirk Council on 28th April 2010. Council Officers are currently working to consolidate the document.
