Falkirk Council has carried out extensive informal consultation with landowners, land managers, local communities, path users and organisations since 1999. We have worked together to look at overall access requirements and prioritised action for implementation. This has driven the creation and improvement of local path networks across the Falkirk Council area and has helped shape the draft Core Paths Plan.
The draft Core Paths Plan shows a network of paths that will give you reasonable access throughout your area. Not every core path will be suitable for all users. However, within the whole network, there should be some access for every type and ability of user, including walkers, cyclists, horse riders and paddlers.
We carried out our formal consultation earlier this year, and have now looked through all the comments and objections received. We are now working out how best to deal with each issue raised and hope to have all our responses and any proposed changes to the draft Core Paths Plan completed in early 2009.
Any objections which cannot be resolved will, if necessary, be considered at a Core Paths Plan Local Inquiry.
