Falkirk Council's Outdoor Access Strategy focuses on non-motorised outdoor access. It aims to tackle access issues and path improvements that people of all ages and abilities want to see in their area.
Walking, cycling, horse riding and canoeing are not only great for recreation and enjoying the countryside, they are also important ways to improve health, support sustainable transport, and help you achieve a better overall quality of life.
This is why creating, upgrading, maintaining and promoting our paths is so important.
Falkirk Council’s vision is:
To create a well-used, high quality recreational resource, which will encourage healthier lifestyles, strengthen community identities, improve appreciation of the environment, and add to the range of visitor attractions across the council area.
This will be achieved by:
-
providing a path network around and between settlements, with links to local facilities and key visitor attractions
-
promoting and maintaining the path network to encourage its use by local people and visitors to the area
People have told us that they want paths. It is important that local communities and other groups and organisations work together with Falkirk Council to bring forward their local path proposals.
The Outdoor Access Strategy provides a structure so we can join forces and make sure we meet the needs of path users, communities and land managers.
