Falkirk council has made a strong commitment to promote sustainable development and this is expressed in particular through the Development Plan for the area and the Sustainable Falkirk Strategy.
This draft Supplementary Planning Guidance Note (SPG) gives advice on how you can apply sustainable design principles, the reasons for adopting the approach and some practical examples.
Much advice and detailed information already exists on this subject. At this stage, the draft SPG is intended to raise awareness of current sustainable design approaches and give advice on their application.
The guidance is therefore brief and general but is cross referenced to other relevant SPGs and sources of more detailed information.
It is intended to outline the general approach and signpost users to other documents which provide more detailed information.
