Disability Discrimination Act (DDA)

Development Services is responsible for hosting the Disabled Access Working Group, which acts as a liaison point between the Council and the groups representing people with disabilities in the community.

The working group has three main functions:

  • to examine the accessibility of the Council’s public buildings and to implement a rolling programme of adaptations to improve access where appropriate
  • to provide training and advice to all Council officers who have a responsibility for procuring, managing or maintaining the Council’s public buildings
  • to provide advice and assistance to the private business sector on how they might comply with the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act: 1995.

Falkirk Council has compiled details of accessible Council buildings| as well as a guide to accessible facilities in the Falkirk area|, both of which can be downloaded in PDF format from this page.
