Development Control & Flooding Team gives advice to our Planning Service on any roads-related issues involved in the determination of a Planning Application.
This involves checking that the submitted proposal is in line with the "Design Guidelines and Construction Standards for Roads in the Falkirk Council Area".
This document is available from Development Services office at a cost of £20 per copy.
The team can provide informal advice to anyone who is intending to submit a Planning Application which will involve road related works or issues.
This can help the applicant address many of the roads issues prior to submission of the Planning Application.
Road Construction Consents
Anyone planning to construct a new road or alter an existing road as part of a development must obtain the consent of the Council in the form of a Road Construction Consent under the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984, Section 21. In this context "alter" involves new construction outwith the limit of the existing road.
Download a Road Construction Consent application form (PDF, 40KB)| here or a copy can be obtained from our office. There is no charge for processing a Road Construction Consent.
Roads built by developers have to be approved and checked during construction to ensure that they are fit for purpose before they can be adopted as public roads and become the responsibility of the Council.
Flooding
The Team is responsible for the Council's statutory duties set out in the Flood Prevention and Land Drainage (Scotland) Act 1997. More information on this is given on the Flood prevention| page.
