Development Services key aims, goals and themes

Key service goals

Our five key service goals were developed from the Goals of the Council and the related key priorities of the Falkirk Council Corporate Plan. They are focussed on improving service delivery to our customers.

  • We will support  development opportunities, which increase jobs, income and enterprise for all our citizens
  • We will promote activities which create and sustain an environment in which people want to live, work and visit
  • We will ensure that our activities enable our citizens to live healthily and safely
  • We will ensure that our service activities tackle disadvantage and discrimination in all its forms
  • We will work to stimulate working partnerships amongst agencies, organisations, citizens and communities

The goals are summed up in the aim of the service: 

"The aim of Development Services is to contribute to the protection of the environment, the safeguarding of human health and the enhancement of the quality of life of the citizens of Falkirk Council’s area"

Management themes

We looked at the key values of the Council and the principles of Best Value in developing our management themes. These themes focus on improving the way we manage our business and are:

  • we will monitor and review our service performance and take action to ensure continuous improvement
  • we will engage in the modernising government and efficient government agendas to promote, enhance and improve access to our services, across the council, to partners and to the wider community
  • we will improve communication to assist in the provision of fully integrated service delivery
  • we will promote a programme of personal and professional development to realise the full potential of our staff  
  • we will develop our risk management strategy to meet the changing risk profile of the service
