Blue Badge scheme

This is a national concessionary parking scheme which is operated by Falkirk Council.

There is no charge to apply for the scheme but in order to qualify you must be aged two years or over and meet one of the following criteria:

  • you are registered blind
  • you receive the higher rate (mobility component) of Disability Living Allowance
  • you receive War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement
  • you use a vehicle supplied by a government department or receive a government grant towards running your own car
  • you have a severe disability in both upper limbs, drive regularly and are unable to turn by hand the steering wheel of a motor vehicle
  • you have a permanent and substantial disability which causes inability to walk or very considerable difficulty in walking.

The badge can be used to allow parking of a vehicle closer to shops and other places you may wish to visit. The scheme also enables you to park a vehicle free of charge in some areas that usually require a fee to be paid. A leaflet issued with the Blue Badge gives more specific information on where and how the badge should be used.

For further information and to apply for a badge contact the Concessions Unit using the details shown.
