The Taxicard is for people with disabilities who cannot use ordinary buses. They can use a Taxicard to travel in taxis at a reduced fare. There is no charge for a Taxicard but you must be permanently resident in the Falkirk Council area and meet one of the following criteria:
-
your ability to walk is seriously impaired and you cannot board low-floor buses OR
-
you are registered blind
You can use the Taxicard to go anywhere provided that your journey starts or finishes in the Falkirk Council area.
The reduced fares are:
-
on journeys costing up to £4.00 you pay half fare
-
on journeys costing over £4.00 you pay the fare less £2.00
-
you may travel with up to three people, each paying 20p for a single journey
-
you cannot make more than 12 journeys per week using your Taxicard
Journeys using the Taxicard must be booked, usually one day in advance. This is done by phoning the Taxicard office in Stirling (local rate call) who will arrange for the taxi to arrive at the time you specify. If you require a wheelchair accessible taxi, you should ask for this when booking your journey. Your portion of the fare is paid to the driver at the end of the journey.
