Additional support needs school transport can be provided, in certain cases, for a child who has learning, behavioural or physical difficulties. Applications must be made by the head teacher of the child's school or by the Council psychologist to Education Services.
Medical transport can also be provided on a short term basis for a child who has an injury that, in turn, causes mobility difficulties. The school can submit a request for short term transport to the Transport Planning Unit.
The leaflet 'Education transport: information for parents and carers' (PDF, 393KB)| contains further information.
