In November 2005, Falkirk Schools were asked to participate in a competition to collect old clothes, shoes, bed linen and towels for recycling.
The competition was open to all schools in the area and in total 17 primary, secondary and nursery schools took part. They collected a massive 3.04 tonnes of rextiles in total.
The textiles were collected by Nathans Wastesavers, a textile recycling company, based in Denny.
The competition was won by Blackness Primary school, who collected the greatest weight of textiles per pupil, with Limerigg Primary and Queen Street Nursery in Second and Third places. These schools won prizes of £150, £100, £50.
