The Forth Valley Area Waste Plan was published in March 2003. Further information can be found on the SEPA website|.
Here are some of the things the Area Waste Plan aims to achieve:
-
98% of the households in Forth Valley will have some recyclates collected separately by 2008.
-
Recycling Centres in Forth Valley will be improved.
-
The network of composting plants in Forth Valley will be expanded.
-
A Materials Reclamation Facility will be built in Forth Valley, where recyclates will be sorted and baled.
Stirling, Falkirk and Clackmannamshire Local Authorities are working together to develop regional harmony in the implementation of these waste management options. All three areas aim to be recycling and composting 25% of all their household waste by 2006 and 30% of all their household waste by 2008.
The three Local Authorities are introducing new initiatives to collect some of the following materials for recycling:
-
Aluminium and steel cans
-
Garden Waste
-
Glass bottles and jars
-
Paper
-
Plastic bottles
-
Textiles
The targets for waste reduction and recycling set out above cannot be achieved without your help.
Falkirk Council has introduced household recycling services to make recycling easier for residents. You can find out more about these services in the Household Recycling section. You can also use your local Recycling Centres and Points to recycle more of your household waste across the Falkirk Council area.
