The Community Education Service was delighted to host their 2010 Presentation of Certificates and Awards event.

Awards and certificates were presented to adults and young people in the following categories:

Training Certificates – for volunteers and part-time staff who have successfully completed training, as part of the central, community outreach, and community based programmes.

Recognition of Achievement – for Individuals or groups (adults or young people) who have made a significant contribution in the community, and/or who have achieved in learning (in the context of community learning and development).

Long Service – for Individuals who have supported community learning and development for 10 years or more.
Sue Selwyn, Head of Cultural and Lifelong Learning, Community Services, Councillor Craig Martin, Leader of the Council, Councillor Adrian Mahoney, Convenor of Leisure, Tourism and Community, Provost Pat Reid, Mary Pitcaithly, Chief Executive, Falkirk Council and Jim Sweeney, Chief Executive, YouthLink Scotland all made introductions or presentations to over 100 people who attended on the night.
As well as the awards presentation, the evening showcased a real variety of successful local projects, from young people as the "Ghostly Guides" - through "Votes for Women" - to "Greenhill Historical Society" as well as musical input form the young musicians from Rock the Talk.
Long service awards were received on the night by Cathy Murray and Robert Robertson who between them have volunteered in their local communities for over 35 years.
This year the Community Education Service are also proud to announce that we have achieved two national awards in March at the prestigious national Youth Worker of the Year Awards 2010 hosted by YouthLink.
Ryan Topping from Rock the Talk Project was voted as winner of the Full time Youth worker of the Year category and Lisa Marie Baird who volunteers with StraighTalk took the silver award as Peer Educator of the Year.
