The key dates for the Community Schools Project are:

OJEU - March 2005 - This is the notice published in the Official Journal of the European Union (previously referred to as OJEC) to formally invite expressions of interest for tendering for the contract to deliver the new schools.

ITN - July 2005 - This is the Invitation to Negotiate (ITN) or Invitation to Tender (ITT) which is the package of tender documentation issued to bidders inviting them to negotiate and submit priced bids. Bids should be received by December 2005.

Preferred Bidder Selection Stage - December 2005 to May 2006 - This is the stage at which the process takes place to select a preferred bidder. Bids are estimated against the key evaluation criteria (e.g. affordability) prior to selection.

Contract negotiation leading to Financial Close June 2006 to May 2007 - This is the stage during which the contract is negotiated with the preferred bidder with Financial Close being the point at which all terms of the contract are agreed and the contract finalised.

Construction Period - October 2006 to 2008/2009.

Current status
The Community Schools Project reached Financial Close on Friday 18 May 2007.
Timescales for the delivery of the new schools have also been agreed with Grangemouth High scheduled to open in December 2008, Denny High in February 2009, St Mungo’s High in June 2009 and Falkirk High in July 2009.
