The new parent councils came into force on 1 August 2007.
The role of the parent council is to:
-
support the school in its work with parents
-
represent the views of parents
-
promote contact between the school, parents, pupils, providers of nursery education and the community
-
report to the Parent Forum
Each school has set up their Parent Council in the way which suits them best with support from the headteacher and the local authority.
You can contact the headteacher of your child's school to find out how you can join the Parent Council.
