In reducing harm associated with domestic abuse, it is essential that the needs of children and young people are reflected in the activities which are developed to help them.
In order to reduce the stigma surrounding domestic abuse, Education Services in partnership with Women's Aid, Central Scotland Police and the Child Protection Committee supported by the Scottish Government Domestic Abuse Pathfinders Project, have developed the Domestic Abuse Curriculum Support Pack 'Safe as Houses'.
The pack aims to raise awareness of the issue of domestic abuse among children and young people and those working with them. Through challenging attitudes and beliefs around domestic abuse the pack supports the development of skills to empower children and young people. It also helps those working with children and young people to raise the issues around domestic abuse. The Larbert Integrated Learning Community (ILC) will pilot the project which will be evaluated and rolled out to all establishments in due course.
