Parental involvement

Parents, carers and family members are by far the most important influences on children's lives. The Scottish Parliament passed a new law called the Scottish Schools (Parental Involvement) Act 2006 to encourage and support more parents to become involved in their child's education.

Schools are already working hard to involve parents and the Parental Involvement Act continues to make it a top priority for every Education Authority and school to support the involvement of parents at home, through home-school partnerships and in the community.

Falkirk Council has a Parental Involvement Team who works closely with parents and schools to promote partnership working, help establish Parent Councils and provide advice and guidance to parents on all matters of education and events/training provided throughout the year.
