Work Experience

The Work Experience programme provides a unique opportunity which we cannot reproduce within a school environment.

It allows our young people to have a first hand experience of the world of work and to learn from employers and employees about the skills, knowledge and attitudes they will require to make a successful transition into the workplace.

It also allows them to identify areas for personal development and to make informed career choices.

Benefits to Pupils

  • Increased motivation towards course work and to reaching attainment levels in line with potential.
  • Opportunities to apply knowledge and skills in a real working environment.
  • Development of important core skills, personal qualities and competencies.
  • Preparation for working life through experience of the day-to-day requirements of having a job.
  • Improved understanding of business and the working environment.
  • Increased awareness of the range of occupations available.
  • Raised awareness of how rights and responsibilities, equal opportunities, health and safety and care of the environment apply in the workplace.

Benefits to Employers

  • Opportunity for staff development.
  • Greater awareness in young people of job/career opportunities and associated skills.
  • Better understanding among business people of current developments in education.
  • Promotion of a company to potential employees and customers.
