The town of Bo'ness is set in the Eastern part of Falkirk Council and is easily accessible from Falkirk, Grangemouth and Edinburgh.

The school is set in an urban and rural area and is a mix of private and public housing provision.

Bo'ness is a distinct community and each year the town has a Children's Day, known as the Bo'ness Fair, where all local primary schools are actively involved.

Deanburn Primary is a non-denominational primary school with a 30/30 nursery class and enhanced provision. It is part of the Bo'ness cluster of schools which comprises 1 secondary school and five primary schools. Deanburn Primary is part of the Bo'ness Intergrated Learning Community (rolling out the new community school approach in Falkirk Council).

Nursery education is available offering 2.5 hours of pre-school education sessions each week. Children will benefit from the high quality experience that will enhance their social, emotional and intellectual development. More information can be found on the Childcare and pre-school pages|.

The school was badly affected by a major fire in January 2002. The new building was completed in May 2005. Refurbishment and landscaping were completed in August 2005.

The learning and teaching in Deanburn Primary School follows the five national priorities as set out by the Scottish Government:

  1. achievement and attainment
  2. framework for learning
  3. inclusion and equality
  4. values and citizenship
  5. learning for life

The academic curriculum is divided into five main areas based on the SEED 5–14 guidelines: language, mathematics, environmental studies, expressive arts, and religious and moral education. Our aim is to give all pupils a wide and varied experience throughout their time at primary school preparing them as citizens for the future.

Music tuition is available to older pupils in piano, brass, violin, cello and clarinet. Places are limited and no child can have tuition in more than one instrument. Falkirk Council sets a fee structure. Parents will be advised of current costs prior to acceptance of a tuition place.
