Head of Muir Primary School
Head Teacher/Manager:
Mrs Jill Stocks (Acting)
Head of Muir school is a non-denominational primary school. It is an attractive, uniquely designed building mostly on one level with facilities for disabled people.
It opened in the autumn of 1978 and can accommodate 450 children aged between four and a half and twelve and a half. The semi-open-plan layout increases opportunities for shared experiences which will enrich the children's learning. There are four communal areas serving 15 classrooms. In addition to these bright learning areas, there is an information area consisting of a computer suite and library. Arts and crafts, drama and music all have dedicated bases. We also have a large multi-purpose hall.
Nursery education is available offering 2.5 hours of pre-school education sessions each week. Children will benefit from the high quality experience that will enhance their social, emotional and intellectual development. More information can be found on the Childcare and pre-school pages|.
Our landscaped grounds, which are protected by C.C.T.V. cameras, are extensive with hard and grassed play areas. To the rear of the property we have a small wood which we use as a learning area for environmental studies. Within the school we have our own nursery class with a capacity for 60 children, 30 attending in the morning and 30 attending in the afternoon.
Both school and nursery are protected by a security system.
Children, families and all interested visitors are welcomed into our school, where we will endeavour to make every child's education as happy and fulfilling as possible. A close liaison between parents and staff, school and community is encouraged and appreciated. Everyone is invited to make as full a contribution as possible to the work of the school so that high standards are expected and achieved.
