The Firefighters Scheme was closed to new entrants from 6th April, 2006. New entrants are now able to access the New Firefighters Pension Scheme instead.
A two tier system is being introduced for ill health retirements from 1st July April, 2006. This applies to both the Fire Pension Scheme and the New Fire Pension Scheme.
