You can join the Police Pension Scheme if you are engaged as a "regular" Police Officer before 6th April, 2006.
To be a regular police officer you must be:
-
a member of a UK police force, or
-
an overseas police officer who is a reversionary member of a home police force, or
-
an inspector or assistant inspector of constabulary, or
-
a police officer on central service.
When you first become a regular Police Officer with Central Scotland Police you will automatically be entered into the Scheme unless you state in writing that you do not wish to join.
If you are a Cadet or a Special Constable, you cannot join the Scheme, although some Scheme benefits would be available if you were killed or injured in duty.
