During 2008/09, we identified that benefit cheats in the Falkirk Council area claimed £305,109.00 that they were not entitled to.
This money could have been spent on other services. We have taken the following action:

9 claimants were successfully prosecuted and found guilty of commiting benefit fraud.

4 other cases were accepted by the Procurator Fiscal (PF) as suitable for prosecution

5 claimants were offered and accepted Administrative Penalties as an alternative to prosecution.

12 claimants were offered and accepted Formal Cautions as an alternative to prosecution.
