The role of Committee and Democratic Services is to provide professional support services to the Council and its committees in their role as democratic decision-makers, and to Elected Members. The core activities of the Committee and Democratic Services Unit are:
Committee Services

Support for, and administration of, the Council's democratic decision-making structure

Issuing of agendas and reports and recording minutes of the Council and its Committees

Preparing and distributing the Information Bulletin

Developing and advising on the Council's Standing Orders and Scheme of Delegation

Administration of the Council's twinning function.
Area Forums and Community Councils

Co-ordination, administration and development of Area Forums

Developing and supporting the Scheme for Community Councils
Children's Panel

Providing administrative support to the Joint Children's Panel Advisory Committee and Training Committees and the National Children's Panel Advisory Group

Providing administrative support to the Falkirk Council's Children's Panel

Appointing and administering the Panels of Safeguarders and Legal Representatives
Members' Services

Providing support services to Elected Members

Providing and facilitating training for Elected Members

Providing support to the Provost and Depute Provost in their civic and ceremonial duties

Organising civic events
-
Providing a caretaking role within the Municipal Buildings
Democratic Services

Assisting the Returning Officer in the conduct of Local Government, Parliamentary, European and Scottish Parliament Elections

Administering Community Council and School Board Elections

Administering review of electoral boundaries

Ombudsman complaints co-ordination

Co-ordinating responses to complaints in relation to the Service received under the Corporate Complaints System
