The purpose of Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) is to set out the likely significant environmental effects of implementation of the Local Development Plan (LDP) and its reasonable alternatives.

The main consultative document of the SEA process is the Environmental Report which identifies the likely significant environmental effects the implementation of the Local Development Plan along with the environmental effects of its reasonable alternatives. The Environmental Report also identifies measures which could mitigate adverse environmental effects. Environmental Reports have been published alongside both the Main Issues Report and the Proposed Plan for consultation.

The SEA Statement outlines how environmental considerations have been factored into the Falkirk LDP, and explains how the Environmental Reports and the opinions expressed on them have been taken into account.
