Within Forth Valley there is an inter-agency training facilitator responsible for our inter-agency training programme. This enables all agencies to train together and the programme is developed within the training framework of the Scottish Government.
The National training framework (PDF, 228KB)| comprises four levels of training. Training is also available for all partner agencies.
The police and social work services have a joint training plan which follows the National JIIT (Joint Investigative Interview Training) programme. This is comprehensive training that is mandatory for police and social work staff who interview children and young people as part of a child protection investigation.
In addition to this, most agencies run their own Level 1 basic awareness child protection training courses, which means that there are regular training opportunities available for all workers and volunteers who offer services to children and young people or come into contact with children and young people as part of their work within the Falkirk Council area.
The Child Protection Committee has a role in public awareness and is willing to participate in any community events. For more information about training courses that Falkirk Council runs in conjunction with our partners, please contact us.
