What is the Welfare Benefits Advice service?

The Welfare Benefits Advice Service provides:

  • advice on a wide range of welfare benefits
  • help so that you can make a claim
  • benefit checks to make sure you are claiming your full entitlement
  • representation if you want to dispute a decision about your benefits
  • appointments and home visits

The Welfare Benefits Helpline offers advice that is free, confidential, impartial, and independent.

If your enquiry can't be dealt with over the phone, we can arrange to see you in a local office to discuss your enquiry. Home visits can be arranged in exceptional circumstances.

What benefits or credits might I be entitled to?

There is a whole range of benefits or credits you may be able to claim, depending on your circumstances. For example:
