The Joint Dementia Initiative works to maintain or improve the quality of life for those of any age who have memory problems, as well as their families and carers, by providing person-centred services to meet individual needs.
The Joint Dementia Initiative provides support to enable people to live as long as possible in their own homes, with the aim of being innovative and creative in responding to peoples' needs.
We encourage those with memory problems to be as independent as possible and we give them the opportunity to make choices, from whether to accept the service in the first place, to deciding how to spend their time, what they eat, right to privacy etc. We encourage people to go at their own pace and to take reasonable risks, which will add to their quality of life.
We are based in Falkirk and managed by Falkirk Council, but our services also extend into Stirling and Clackmannanshire and we work jointly with these councils, Forth Valley Primary Healthcare NHS Trust and Forth Valley Health Board.
