For targeted sports the Sports Development Team provides sports coaching opportunities, tournaments and festivals and organises sports specific and general coach education and development courses. Through participation in coaching courses and tournaments/ festivals sport also plays a vital role in contributing to people being physically active.
Beyond the introductory levels of sports participation there are then routes to progress into local sports clubs, local and regional development squads and further if athletes have acquired suitable skill and are motivated to do so.
To ensure appropriate opportunities exist Sports Development work in partnership with the Active Schools| team, local sports clubs and with sportcentral, the regional sports partnership.
