Situated almost mid-way between Glasgow and Edinburgh, Falkirk's geographical location makes it easy to get to.
By coach
Many, if not all areas of Falkirk can be accessed via the bus network. The bus service to and from Falkirk is managed by First Bus. Details of all First Bus routes and timetables can be found on the company's website.|
By rail
The area has a good number of railway stations. Falkirk itself has two: Falkirk Grahamston and Falkirk High. There are also stations at Polmont, Larbert and Camelon and one planned for Grangemouth. By car
Motorways run through the area to the west, north and east of Falkirk, making it possible to travel quickly and easily in any direction on uncrowded highways. Glasgow and Edinburgh are a little over 30 minutes drive away whilst Stirling is approximately 20 minutes away.
From Edinburgh
From Edinburgh, take the M9 motorway (M9 / Forth Road Bridge / Stirling).
Continue on the M9 for approximately 8 miles then exit via junction 5 (Grangemouth / Falkirk).
From Glasgow
From Glasgow, take the M8 motorway (Stirling / Carlisle / Edinburgh / M8).
Exit the M8 via junction 13 (M80 / Stirling / Kincardine Br).
Branch left at roundabout (Stirling).
Continue onto the A80 then continue onto the M80.
At M80 junction 5, keep in left hand lane then branch left onto the M876 (Kincardine Bridge / Falkirk / Grangemouth).
Exit the motorway at junction 2 (Larbert).
By air
Falkirk itself does not have an airport but Edinburgh airport is approximately 30 minutes drive away and Glasgow approximately 45 minutes away. Both Edinburgh and Glasgow airports run a regular service to many other UK destinations (please check with your local airport for details). Many European and North American destinations can be reached from Glasgow and Edinburgh too.
By sea
Grangemouth is Scotland's busiest deep water port. Established for 200 years, it was the first UK port to open a container terminal, has sophisticated bulk-handling facilities and Ro/Ro capability, as well as compound storage facilities and a purpose-built bonded ICD shed.
Visitors travelling from Belgium to the area can travel by ferry to Rosyth from Zeebrugge. From Rosyth, Falkirk is only a 30 minute drive away. More information about Rosyth Ferry Terminal can be found on the company's website.|
