(d)Support Strategies for Town Centre Festivities

As local councillor for the Denny/Banknock Ward I have been approached at various times with proposals to encourage footfall in the town centres within my ward.

Motion

The Council instruct officers to compile a report identifying all requirements to facilitate a speedy turn-around on licensing applications for promotional events; fun days and fairs within the environs of our town centres. This report should identify and include pre-ordained sites within all district town centres vicinities where promotional/entertainment festivities will be actively encouraged.

(e)Conflict Resolution and Asset Decline Management

With Alexander Dennis currently on strike; threatened strike action at Ineos; and the potential closure of Ineos making front page news, it is a deeply worrying time for the Falkirk Council area.

Motion

Council recognise the precarious nature of 2 of our major employers in the region. Council officers be instructed to update the emergency procedures in place to deal with a substantial employment loss. Officers will also provide a report on Council on the mechanisms in place to manage any major asset decline with recommendations as to how this is: a) prevented b) managed.

(f)Systems Choke

An attempt has been made to streamline Council's Decision Making Structures with debatable success. It is recognised that Council developments are also in need of drastic overhaul.

Motion

Council officers are requested to carry out a forensic investigation into the development process involved in the redevelopment of the old Denny Police Station for social housing. The report should include all documentation generated by the project from its inception including drawings; specifications; letters/e-mails of officers involved in the project; fees approvals; Council minutes and agenda discussions. The report will identify areas of "system choke" where the process has been hindered, and will offer possible solutions.
